SLINDON WIND TURBINES – A FEW FACTS

1. Whatever you may hear, these wind turbines CANNOT be used as a backup supply in the event of a power failure, by either the owner or the local community. Without power supply they are useless white elephants – they can only operate when the grid is ON.

2. Even in their proposed hill top location, these wind turbines will only ever run at around one fifth of their capacity due to poor wind speeds in our area. (figures from Bowler Energy’s own data) So each giant turbine would only be able to boil 5 kettles at once!!

3. The old brick chimney at Mill Meece Pumping Station is just 125 feet tall and in a low lying area – just think how far away you can see that from. These proposes wind turbines will be over 150 feet tall and on top of one of the highest areas for miles around!

4. Despite blighting our countryside, costing nearly a quarter of a million pounds each, being over 150 feet tall and weighing in at 4 tonnes, each turbine would only provide the same amount of energy as this small 10kW portable diesel generator.

5. To put this into perspective, the generous £3Million+ that the turbine operator could earn during the scheme (mostly from taxpayers) would run this same diesel generator for around 80 years!!!!
